    A HISTORIC COOPERATION OF TWO LEADERS OF THEIR SECTORS, ISTANBUL AYDIN UNIVERSITY AND SHERATON ISTANBUL MASLAK HOTEL

    “TOURISM AND GASTRONOMY ACADEMY”

    The signature protocol and press conference on The Tourism and Gastronomy Academy which is organized by the cooperation of Istanbul Aydın University and Sheraton Istanbul Maslak Hotel was held today. As a result of the covenant signed by Dr. Mustafa Aydın, the head of the board of trustees of Istanbul Aydın University, and Oğuz Serim, president of executive board of Sheraton Istanbul Maslak Hotel, the academy prepared by Istanbul Aydın University Continuing Education Centre will launch for education with its participants soon. Theoretical and practical education in the Tourism and Gastronomy Academy will be given in Sheraton Istanbul Maslak Hotel by professionalist lecturers and internationally certified and awarded names.

    Before signing the protocol, Dr. Mustafa Aydın, the head of the board of trustees of Istanbul Aydın University, said “By founding this academy, Istanbul Aydın University is breaking new grounds in Turkey as the pioneer of firsts. For the first time in Turkey, a university is collaborating with an international and one of the leading brands in lodging sector, Sheraton Hotel, to represent Turkish tourism and cuisine in an international dimension. Aiming to train innovative, inquisitive chefs who have academic knowledge and experience, who will set uncodified standarts of Turkish cuisine, and who will shape the future of tourism, our academy has the goal to be the leader brand in the national scale and to hold global standarts by creating development oriented designs and solutions.” Adding that this academy will drag up the hidden and forgotten recipes of Turkish and Anatolian cuisine, Mr Aydin expressed his pleasure about this cooperation.

    Oğuz Serim, the president of executive board of Sheraton Istanbul Maslak Hotel, said “the values of this academy include favor, warmth, transparency, perfection in education, application of innovative ideas and concepts, satisfaction of participants, being innovative and leader in the sector, cooperation with global brands, caring the priorities of participants by increasing trustworthiness and loyalty. We will pursue these values with Istanbul Aydın University, which has been the most preferred foundation university for the past six years through the system of internship. Having started this programme with the motto of “learn by living”, we believe that the participants will have the opportunity to apply the knowledge they had in trainin sessions in the field under the supervision of their lecturers. All the theoratical and practical training will be held in Sheraton Istanbul Maslak Hotel.”

    It is also stated that on successful completion of the Gastronomy Programme, students will be eligible to enrol on an intensive IESOL programme of study, which will lead to a City & Guilds IESOL qualification, with related Europass certification. The participants will be employed in their field with the support of the cooperators in regard to the aggreements of the academy with İŞKUR(Turkish Employment Agency)  and KOSGEB (Small and Medium Industry Development Organızation).
